All-Options is seeking a bilingual English/Spanish Talkline Coordinator to join our team. The Talkline Coordinator (TC) plays a key role in the success of our nationwide All-Options Talkline by coordinating program details, supporting volunteer Talkline Advocates, participating in recruitment and training of new volunteers, co-facilitating portions of our signature workshops for other national programs, and participating in fundraising and communication efforts as needed. This position offers opportunities for growth and advancement.
All-Options is a nationally distributed organization. The Talkline Coordinator is a fully remote position and open to candidates within the United States. For administrative reasons, preference will be given to candidates in states where All-Options is already established as an employer (CA, CO, IN, OH, OR, GA, MI, TN, TX). The Talkline Coordinator reports to our National Programs Director (NPD) who is based in TN.
The Talkline Coordinator is a non-exempt, full-time position (~40 hours/week) with a starting salary of $26-28/hr DOE (approximately $54-58K/year). Work schedule is generally Monday-Friday with occasional evenings or weekends, and some flexibility in hours. Benefits include paid vacation, sick time, holidays, and time off at year-end; a simple IRA retirement fund with employer match up to 3% of annual salary; and an employer-funded Health Reimbursement Account of approximately $500/month ($1,000/month for people with dependents) for medical, dental, vision, and other health premiums and expenses.
Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Volunteer & Program Coordination (approximately 40% of the position):
- Act as first point of communication and support with volunteer Talkline Advocates, and as primary liaison between Talkline Advocates and the NPD
- Coordinate monthly shift scheduling for all volunteer Advocates
- Monitor voicemail boxes and ensure timely call backs from volunteers
- Coordinate and co-facilitate Talkline meetings and other community-building events
- Regularly monitor and document volunteer attendance and performance to ensure that they are aligned with expectations, elevating issues and concerns to the NPD as needed
- Take a shift on the Talkline once per month and return Spanish language voicemails on an as needed basis
Recruitment, Training & Facilitation (approximately 25% of the position):
- Support the NPD with developing and implementing strategies for the recruitment of a diverse community of volunteers for the Talkline, especially Spanish speaking bilingual volunteers
- Support the NPD with vetting, interviewing, and selecting prospective volunteers
- Coordinate and co-facilitate the 6-week training of Talkline volunteer cohorts, up to two times a year
- Co-facilitate relevant portions of our Faith Aloud volunteer training, Pregnancy Options Workshops, and other public-facing trainings as needed
Program Administration (approximately 25% of the position):
- Manage minor phone system issues as they come up, and elevate more complicated technology issues to the appropriate staff member
- Regularly review Talkline call logs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality, following up with volunteers as needed
- Support the NPD in analyzing call data to ensure the Talkline is well-staffed and accessible to a greater number of callers
- Support the NPD and National Operations Director (NOD) with monitoring and managing the Talkline program budget
- Coordinate with the Donor Relations Director (DRD) to ensure up-to-date records and volunteer contact info in All-Options databases
Other (approximately 10% of the position):
- Act as a member of the national programs staff team, sharing responsibility for day-to-day operations and client services, working collaboratively with the NPD, Faith Aloud Manager (FAM) and the National Trainings Manager (NTM)
- Support and contribute to grant applications and reports, donor appeals, and email communications to donors/supporters/funders as needed
- Participate in regular online 1:1, team, and staff meetings; and occasional travel to retreats, conferences and trainings throughout the United States
Who We Are Looking For:
We are looking for a bilingual Talkline Coordinator who has a passion and talent for providing judgment-free emotional support to pregnant and parenting people, can support callers and volunteers in both English and Spanish, can meet diverse people with both warmth and boundaries, and enjoys the details and challenges of coordinating programs.
The ideal candidate is responsible, organized, flexible, detail-oriented, a strong communicator, and knows when to ask for help while also being able to work independently. Must be able to hold confidential information and function effectively in a nationally distributed and virtually connected organization.
Advanced proficiency or fluency in Spanish is required for this position. While no candidate will possess every qualification, the following are also highly desired:
- Cultural awareness and humility, and the ability to build positive relationships with diverse people
- High level of emotional intelligence, compassion, sense of humor and fun, and capacity for giving and receiving feedback
- Demonstrated commitment to racial, economic, and reproductive justice
- 1-2 year(s) of experience working in direct service programs, particularly text or telephone-based programs; significant volunteer experience will be considered
- 1-2 year(s) of experience in training coordination and facilitation; significant volunteer experience will be considered
- Experience working or volunteering in reproductive health, rights or justice strongly preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to problem solve, manage time and priorities, and complete work without significant day-to-day supervision
- Experience working remotely and virtually with a distributed team strongly preferred
- Proficiency with cloud-based programs and comfort learning new software; tools we use daily include Google Suite, Asana, Airtable, Nextiva, Phone.com, and Zoom
- Note that a college or graduate degree is NOT required
