At All-Options, we are hard at work designing and facilitating trainings around the country on pregnancy, parenting, abortion, and adoption, values clarification, and judgment-free all-options counseling for a wide variety of professionals interested in supporting pregnant people. In the Spring, our Center Programs Coordinator, Amanda Lamm, facilitated a Reproductive Justice IN Action training to students at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis’ Social Justice Symposium. Our Executive Director, Parker Dockray, and Deputy Director, Poonam Dreyfus-Pai, followed suit by leading a full-day Pregnancy Options Workshop for health educators, counselors, and social workers through the Alameda County Public Health Department in San Leandro.
As we prepare for the next round of trainings, we’re also updating the data we share with participants to reflect the wider reproductive justice issues that impact people’s pregnancy experiences and decisions. One of our favorite articles this season comes from Christine Dehlendorf’s research on family planning programs shifting their focus from preventing unintended pregnancy to centering patients’ needs and positive experiences of care. Check out her article, “Should Preventing Unintended Pregnancy Be Family Planning’s Holy Grail?”.
We’re excited to announce that, come this Fall, we’ll be offering our signature training, the Pregnancy Options Workshop, as an online course! Now you and your colleagues can participate from anywhere in the country, and receive innovative tools and exercises for building skills within a supportive learning community! We’re also in the process of securing Continuing Education Units for our trainings, both in-person and online, and look forward to rolling them out in the near future.
